Find God, Be Changed, Make a Difference

One Church, Two Services

In our Preschool ministry (ages birth-K), we strive to create the first building blocks of a strong, gospel-centered foundation for our children. We teach from the Scriptures and help parents proclaim to their kids who God is and what He has done in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Our volunteers are required to be trained and screened, and we maintain strict teacher-to-child ratios to ensure safe care. For health standards, children must be free from fever or symptoms of contagious disease for 24 hours. We use a computer check in station to check in all children birth - 5th grade with security tags for parents and name tags for each child and their belongings.

Sunday Mornings

  • 8:30am - Early session (birth-K)
  • 9:45am - First Kids LIVE!
  • Our preschoolers explore the Bible using music, games, and large group activities.

  • 11:00am - First Kids Encounter
  • Our preschoolers explore the Bible in small groups according their age.

First Kids

In our children's ministry (grades 1-5) we continue to build a strong gospel-centered foundation for our children using age-appropriate curriculum and activities. We teach from the Scriptures and help parents proclaim to their kids who God is and what He has done in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Our volunteers are required to be trained and screened. For health standards, children must be free from fever or symptoms of contagious disease for 24 hours. We use a computer check in station to check in all children birth - 5th grade with security tags for parents and name tags for each child and their belongings.

  • 8:30am - First Kids Grow
  • Our kids learn what it means to be a young Christian and grow through discovery of spiritual disciplines: prayer, scripture study, service to others, and giving. They also have the opportunity to discover their unique spiritual gifts and use them to serve in our own church during First kids LIVE! and Encounter.

  • 9:45am - First Kids LIVE!
  • First Kids explore the Bible using music, worship, Bible skills, and activities in a large group setting.

First Steps

First Steps operates as a ministry of First Baptist Church Waxahachie to serve you and you child. Our program is designed to provide parents of preschoolers with part-time childcare needs, as well as nurture a child’s knowledge and understanding of God, His world, self, and others.

As parents, you play a vital role in your preschooler’s physical, mental, social, and spiritual development. We believe that First Steps can assist parents in this role, and partner with the family to provide positive growth experiences.

We are here Tuesdays and Thursdays and accept children ages 6 weeks to 4 years who will start kinder the following school year. Our curriculum is called The Carpenter’s Kids and it seamlessly incorporates the Godly principles and Bible stories we feel your children need to know with the PreKinder skills they will need to be successful in an elementary school environment.

Parent Handbook

In our Student Ministry (6th-12th grade), we seek to increase that strong, gospel-centered foundation in our students through learning and studying the Word of God. Student Ministry is where our students begin to experience what group life is like within the church. Our hope is to partner with parents in helping students go deeper with each other, their leaders and, most importantly, God.

Leadership Students

Leadership Students are students who have committed to a deeper relationship and a greater role inside our Student Ministry. We are seeking to develop Christian Leaders through Sunday Night small groups, service opportunities, and leadership camp. If your student is interested in becoming a leadership student contact

Our weekly gathering takes place on Sundays. Students gather corporately for a time of worship and Bible teaching followed by small discussion groups.
